Golf Course Discoveries - Mountain Air

Summer is a great time in the Carolinas to search for a golf community home. Visitors who are contemplating a move south will get a taste for what summer is really like in North and South Carolina. (Quick answer: Hot on the coast and the flatlands of the interior; cool in the western Carolina mountains … but it is all relative, especially if you live in some really hot spots in Florida or Arizona.)

All of the Carolina golf courses are open for play, of course, and you are likely to be alone on the links at the hottest times of the day. You can often play in less than four hours, but don’t forget to hydrate frequently. (Some courses provide iced towels at tee boxes.)

Most golf communities make it easy and inexpensive to visit and explore. “Discovery Packages” are invitations to couples to explore the community at a deeply discounted price for lodging, golf and a meal or two.

The only catch is that you are compelled to tour the community with a real estate agent; but that’s not a big deal since you are there to learn more about the community anyway (although a brazen few do take advantage of the low prices and aren’t serious about discovering anything except a cheap vacation). Most real estate agents I’ve worked with are not pushy and won’t burden you with more than one or two follow-up phone calls unless you want them to.

The following represent a few of the best deals in this summer’s Discovery Packages when you combine the quality of the community and the cost of the stay. All prices are per couple and based on three day/two night stays.
